Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled and dependable Carpenter to support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of our rental and condo properties. This position involves performing repairs, renovations, and custom carpentry work to maintain the quality and safety of residential units. You’ll work alongside our maintenance team to complete both scheduled and urgent tasks with professionalism and attention to detail.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, experienced in residential carpentry, and comfortable working in occupied and vacant properties. You take pride in quality workmanship and are confident in problem solving on-site with minimal supervision.
How you’ll move the needle
- Perform a wide range of carpentry tasks, including framing, drywall repair, trim work, flooring, cabinetry, and custom finishes
- Install and repair doors, windows, baseboards, handrails, shelving, fences, decks, and other structural or finish components
- Complete renovations and upgrades in rental units and shared property areas as needed • Identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues during unit walkthroughs or regular inspections • Carry out minor plumbing and electrical repairs, such as replacing faucets, fixing leaks, changing light fixtures, or repairing outlets
- Respond promptly to service requests, emergency calls, and general maintenance work orders • Coordinate with the maintenance team and the Maintenance Coordinator to prioritize daily and long term projects
- Follow all local building codes, health and safety regulations, and company maintenance standards • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each project
- Track materials and tools used on each job, and assist in managing inventory for carpentry and maintenance supplies
- Support seasonal maintenance tasks, including snow removal and basic property upkeep • Maintain clear documentation and communication with the office, administration staff, and ownership regarding completed work and ongoing issues
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and improving workmanship over time
What you need to succeed
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License, along with a clean five (5) year abstract • 5 years of hands-on carpentry or residential maintenance experience
- Must have a full set of basic carpentry tools and be prepared to use them daily • Availability for occasional overtime, after-hours, and emergency maintenance calls • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment • Physically fit and capable of lifting and using power tools, ladders, and materials • Willingness to continually learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and repair techniques • Knowledge of building codes and safety standards
- Comfortable working in both occupied and unoccupied units
What would give you an edge
- Journeyman certification or equivalent carpentry training
- Experience in property management or working on rental properties
- Basic understanding of plumbing or electrical systems
- Ability to assist with other trades (e.g., tiling, roofing, siding)
- Familiarity with work order software such as Buildium or Jobber
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with tenants or condo owners
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range – $37.50-$40.00 per hour
